After Acceptance

Project Recipient (Presentation Recipients: Please scroll down)

New Recipient Orientation
All recipients must attend a New Recipient Orientation session. At this orientation UROP will discuss the funding process, the successful steps to completion of your project, resources available to you, and how you can fulfill all of your requirements with UROP. Please sign up for an orientation session when prompted by UROP. Failure to attend an orientation session will result in the withdrawal of your UROP funds.

Memorandum of Agreement (MOA)
All Project recipients and mentors must submit a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that has been signed by the student and the faculty mentor. The MOA is a formal agreement between you, your mentor, and UROP that states that you are aware of and intend to complete all requirements. You must submit an electronic copy of the MOA (in PDF format) to urop@hawaii.edu no later than one week after you have been notified of your funding decision. UROP may rescind funding if the deadline is not met. No hard copies of the MOA will be accepted (we are a paperless office!).

Ethical Standards
If your research or creative project requires that you comply with UHM ethical standards for research (i.e. includes human/animal subjects, biological commodities, or hazardous materials), UROP will not disburse your funds until all formal documentation has been received that you are in compliance. It is your responsibility to contact and appropriately seek compliance and show proof.  Please consult with your mentor if you need assistance with the approval process. Please note that any pending compliance or noncompliance will prevent funding disbursement and UROP may rescind funding if not all necessary compliance is met after one month of UROP application acceptance. You may also visit the Office of Research Compliance (ORC) for detailed information concerning ethical standards, it is their mission to enrich and protect researchers and the research enterprise at University of Hawai‘i through education in, and assurance of, responsible research practices.

Application Update
If your application was accepted with application contingencies, you will have to make satisfactory edits on your Project Application Form, Proposal, and/or Supplement document. Please be sure to ask questions if you are not sure about the changes you need to make. UROP may rescind your funding if you fail to revise and submit satisfactory application within one week after your project has been accepted for funding via email.

Outstanding Project Requirements
If you have previously received UROP funding and still have outstanding requirements for that project, funding will not be disbursed for your new project until you complete all outstanding requirements.
