Spring 2014 Announcements

SSS Scholarship Workshop

Immediate Attention:  File your FAFSA as soon as possible.  Estimating income is fine.  You can revise income figures later.  The Financial Aid Office will package awards in the order of application date.  The earlier you apply the more financial aid money can be available to you.

SSS Workshop: Writing your personal statement for a scholarship
(Please note: many scholarships on the UH-Manoa Star Scholarship list do not require a personal statement, just short answers)

If you haven’t applied for scholarships because the “personal essay/statement” requested is such a hassle or you can never find time to write one, Student Support Services has a mini workshop specifically geared for you.  In a short 90 minute session, there will be a general overview of financial aid, the scholarship search process and application, and a writing component so that you will walk out with a draft of your personal statement that you can finalize with one of the SSS Advisers in a personal advising session.  If time permits, drafting a general resume will also be covered.

Four sessions offered (limited to 10 students each):
