We hope you are enjoying your academic journey at UHM and have been taking the time to explore the opportunities and major options offered. As you are aware, you are required to complete mandatory advising every Fall and Spring semester for your first two years of your academic career at UHM.
This semester, we have developed new options to assist you in reaching your academic goals and to prepare you to declare your major of choice. As a reminder, you are strongly encouraged to declare your major by your junior year, so you should have narrowed down those majors you are considering and be working toward declaration.
To satisfy your mandatory advising requirement, you must complete the following two steps in the order listed:
STEP ONE: Students are categorized into different groups based on the semester in which they entered UHM. In the email you received on September 23, 2016, included a link to a website that detailed the options available for your group. Only options listed on this webpage can be used to satisfy Step One of your mandatory advising requirement.
We suggest that you complete this step of your mandatory advising early, as some options are only available for a limited period of time.
STEP TWO: After completing one of the options on the website linked above, complete the MAC Mandatory Advising Survey. The link was included in your Mandatory Advising email, which was sent to you on September 23, 2016. Answers to this survey are confidential and the survey can only be accessed via the link in your email.
If you do not satisfy your mandatory advising requirement by completing both steps in the order listed above, a registration hold will be placed on your account and you will not be able to register for the Spring 2017 semester. Holds will be placed on October 24, 2016, and will not be removed until you have satisfied your mandatory advising requirement.
MAC Advisors will check for survey completion on a regular basis. It will take up to two business days after completion of the survey for your hold to be released. Please plan accordingly.
Failure to complete the above steps in the stated order will result in a delay in removing your hold.
