David Turk was Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy from 2021 to 2025. An expert in clean energy technologies and national security, Turk previously served as Deputy Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, as Deputy Special Envoy for Climate Change at the State Department, and as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director at the National Security Council. Born in Ecuador and raised in Illinois, Turk is an alum of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of Virginia Law School.
