Nancy Partika is the former Program Director for the HRSA-funded MCH Leadership Program at the DPHS. This program was initiated to encourage and support emerging and experienced public health leaders to become more effective MCH leaders in Hawaii and the Pacific and was the first in OPHS to use distance education in course delivery.

With over two decades of experience and leadership in both the public and private sectors of Hawaii public health practice, Nancy works to promote ongoing linkages between the health and human services community and the DPHS. Nancy previously served as Director of the DOH’s Governor’s Committee on HIV/AIDS, Director of the DOH’s Refugee and Immigrant Health Project, Instructor for the AIDS Education Project-JABSOM, and as ED of the Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Coalition of Hawaii.

Nancy has participated in community-based research in areas that include: distance education in public health; undergraduate public health education; unintended pregnancy and its policy and program implications; access to health care for at-risk populations; MCH policy issues; teen pregnancy and parenting; substance use and pregnancy; services for children with disabilities; and HIV/AIDS policy and workforce issues.

She has served as President of the Hawaii Public Health Association (2000-2002) and the SPH Alumni Association (1980-82). Nancy coordinated the first Hawaii Global Public Health Conference, as well as numerous other public health conferences and trainings. Partika is a member of the Hawaii and National Delta Omega National Honor Society for Public Health.

Her public health teaching areas have included: PH program planning, policies and programs in MCH, community & public health practice, undergraduate public health and integrative seminar.
