Hi, My brother has lived with TBI for 10 years now, he recently lost his job, and chances of him finding another one are slim to none, do you know of any volunteer programs on Maui, that can keep him busy? Or any helpful information in regards to programs available on the Island of Maui. Mahalo.

I had a near drowning at the age of 12 while paddling canoe, I hit my head on the outrigger and was hospitalized for a couple of weeks…after that, I started to have uncontrollable seizures and multiple headaches…my grades went down and my social life crashed to zero because I’m so afraid of going out and messing up…I am 43 now and a single parent who have not been successful of anything…I have a VNS implant but that isn’t guaranteed to stop the seizures…I feel lost and no where to turn to because I feel I cannot even do well in school or keep a job…

This is so awesome. I’m reminded of an issue of Nintendo Power that I read when I was a little kid. In it, they detailed a system that a young boy without the use of his hands used to control video games by blowing puffs of air into little tubes. Game systems have been important rehabilitative tools for a long time.

Great PSA! Keep it up. People cannot relate to something they cannot see or have never experienced. It is very frustrating as a brain injury person to try explain to someone who doesn’t listen or perhaps they haven’t the ability to conceptualize BI.

I faciliate the head injury support group on Maui at the Maui Memorial Mewdical Center. I would be most appreciative if you could share any information on your meetings. I have not previously facilitated any such groups and am groping about to provide pertinent speakers and information for the head injury survivors.
