Be a part of the HUI leadership experience!

Program Overview

COURSEWORK

HUI participants will enroll in one of the following classes at no cost:

  • English 100
  • Ethnic Studies 101
  • Educational Foundations 310
Each class is worth three credits and meets at least one of UHM's general education or foundation requirements for graduation.
WORKSHOPS

HUI workshops are held after the academic classes to introduce students to the various programs and resources on campus that will help them be successful and engaged students.

HUI Peer Mentors will also lead activities that focus on self-identity, communication, leadership, team work, and skills building throughout the summer.

PEER MENTORS

HUI students are provided with Peer Mentors during their first year at UHM. All Peer Mentors are former HUI participants who are trained to conduct the summer workshops, provide support and encouragement, and serve as a resource for their mentees.

Participants get to know all Peer Mentors during the summer and eventually choose their mentors for the school year.

The deadline for the 2024 HUI Summer Program application has passed.

Feel free to contact us at omsshui@hawaii.edu for any questions about our program.
