UH Mānoa Office of the Ombuds
Confidentiality:Confidentiality is the foundation of ombuds work. Confidentiality makes people feel safe about discussing their problems and protects them from reprisals. The ombuds staff will not report the names of any persons who use our services unless there is an imminent risk of serious harm. The office keeps only minimal records of specific complaints and destroys these records as quickly as possible.
Individuals may give an ombuds permission to contact others, but unless specific permission is given, communications between an ombuds staff and others are considered privileged. The ombuds office holds this privilege. It cannot be waived by others.
