Online Learning Academy & Waipahu High School Early College To Present At National Webinar About Tremendous Success Using EdReady As A College Math Placement Tool:
On October 5, 2017 at 9:00am (HST), Mark Silliman of Waipahu Early College and Ed Lee of OLA, will present the results of the tremendously successful Spring 2017 STEM Olympians pilot project. Thirty, 9th-grade STEM Olympians at Waipahu used EdReady for 12 weeks to prepare for the Accuplacer Math Placement Exam. As part of the project, OLA helped to provide an embedded tutor (Joshua Udasco- himself a Waipahu Early College Graduate!) and instituted a gamification leaderboard to incentivize students to keep up with their peers toward their common goal. The results were astounding! Upon completion of their EdReady study preparations, 29 of the 30 students placed at or above college level math! This will be the subject of the NROC presentation (link) entitled Bridge Programs That Work: An Early College STEM Program Opens Doors.
