Mission & Vision

Native Hawaiian Student Services (NHSS) serves Native Hawaiians at the University of Hawai‘i Mānoa campus regardless of major, degree, or career choice.

NHSS was established:

  • To support and provide direction and guidance to Native Hawaiian students so that they graduate;
  • To foster leadership among our haumāna;
  • To reinforce and grow our sense of Hawaiian identity at the University of Hawai‘i Mānoa campus;
  • To include our “ʻohana” and community in higher education; and
  • To serve our lāhui.

NHSS provides the following services to assist our students on their paths to graduation:

  • Academic, wellness, and career counseling and referral services;
  • Tutoring;
  • Internship opportunities;
  • Community huaka‘i;
  • Summer enrichment program for UH community college system transfer students; and
  • Technology capacity building.

In addition, throughout the academic year, NHSS hosts various workshops on technology, careers, and student enrichment. For a list of our upcoming workshops and events, click here.
