HONOLULU — The 2005 UH Business Plan Competition is underway. Organized by the Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship & E-Business (PACE) at UH Mānoa‘s College of Business, the contest is the premier business plan competition in Hawaiʻi emphasizing on innovation in technology and social consciousness. PACE is accepting team registrations until Jan. 31, 2005.

This year, the competition features a new component — a social enterprise track. The winner of this track will be the team with the business plan that conveys a social element with the most positive impact on a surrounding community or humankind in general.

The competition process is an intense and unique learning opportunity for anyone wishing to pursue an idea for a business. Participants who reach the final round will have worked on their business plans for three months, supported by a host of volunteer mentors and a series of informative help sessions. Finalists will take the stage to present their plans to a panel of judges and a live audience. Winners will walk away with cash prizes totaling more than $80,000.

For competition details or quick registration, visit www.cba.hawaii.edu/bpc. Budding entrepreneurs and students alike are encouraged to visit the message board on the Web site to form a team. Inquiries about the competition may be directed to PACE at pace@hawaii.edu or (808) 956-5083.
