HONOLULU — To thank and recognize the hundreds of UH employees who have dedicated countless hours towards the flood relief efforts, Interim President David McClain and Mānoa Chancellor Peter Englert will host a Mahalo Mānoa! Breakfast on Monday, Dec. 13. The event will be held at 7:30 a.m. in the Stan Sheriff Center Arena and will include a buffet breakfast for UH Mānoa employees and invited guests who have helped with the cleanup efforts.

"I am deeply touched and extremely proud of our hardworking and dedicated employees at UH Mānoa," said McClain. "Their positive outlook and determination to overcome the flood disaster has kept the university up and running losing only two days of classes."

The university also expresses its deep appreciation to the many individuals, businesses and community groups who have come forth to assist with campuswide flood relief efforts. Gifts are being received online through the UH Foundation's Web site and via postal mail continuously. As of December 10, a total of more than $115,000 from more than 1,200 donors has been given to the flood relief funds at the UH Foundation. In addition, food, supplies and services from more than 35 organizations, and hundreds of volunteer hours have been donated.

"The outpouring of support from the community has been truly heartwarming, not only from those who immediately offered monetary support, but also those who have come to campus to offer their time to help in the cleanup," said Mānoa Chancellor Peter Englert. "It is clear that the people of our community care deeply about the university and the lives it touches, and we are grateful for every bit of assistance."

Contributions are still being accepted to aid in UH Mānoa‘s flood recovery. To make a contribution to the UH Mānoa Flood Relief Fund or the Hamilton Library Enrichment & Flood Relief Fund, visit www.uhf.hawaii.edu. Checks made out to "UHF — Mānoa Flood Relief" or "UHF — Hamilton Enrichment" can also be mailed to The University of Hawaiʻi Foundation, P.O. Box 11270, Honolulu, HI 96828.

The Mahalo Mānoa! Breakfast is being partially underwritten by HGEA and UHPA— the two unions that represent large numbers of University of Hawaiʻi employees.
