HONOLULU - Kapi'olani CC will be holding its first all-campus open house on Friday, November 6, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Titled "Your Kapi'olani Experience," the event offers the public a chance to explore the campus. Visitors will be given a "passport" and may choose any of seven destinations for guided tours, or explorations on their own. Visitors are asked to check-in at the Hawaiian Star Compass located in front of 'Ōhi'a Building before embarking on their journeys. They may choose to visit the Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program in one of 3 areas of demonstrations and poster presentations, the International Cafè for demonstrations and food samples, and Health Education programs in Radiography, Massage Therapy and Respiratory Training. For an artistic experience, visitors can view the amazing art pieces in Koa Gallery, or experience artistic printmaking design. For fun, the Kopiko Learning Center will engage visitors in a virtual scavenger hunt using their own smart phones. Visitors may also get a free blood pressure check or learn about surgical technology or cutting edge simulation technology across the street at Lē'ahi Hospital. In addition, the children of 'Alani Childcare Center will present visitors to some of their crafts and games.

The Office of Continuing Education and Training will offer an array of brain games as well as demonstration of Chinese character writing, music and storytelling. While in the vicinity, visitors can learn more about the plants for which all the buildings at Kapi`olani CC are named.

Culinary students will have demonstrations in 'Ōhi'a Building. And for a culminating event, while the Royal Hawaiian Band performs, there will be a friendly competition between different departments at the college featuring themed chili recipes like Heart Healthy Chili, Hawaiian Locally Sourced Chili, International Chili, Continuing Education Chili, and Liberal Arts Chili. Visitors will have a chance to taste and vote for their favorites.

The evening closes with a performance by the Roosevelt High School Hula Hālau.

Please join the faculty and students of Kapi'olani Community College for their first all-campus open house. A potpourri of adventure and experience await you!
