Honolulu CC offers courses in Hybrid/Electric vehicles
University of Hawaiʻi(Honolulu) – Honolulu Community College is the first in the state to offer non-credit courses in Hybrid and Electric vehicle automotive maintenance. Whether someone is a technician, a sales person, or just a car enthusiast, Honolulu CC is offering the most advanced training ever offered.
“We have developed new curriculum in hybrid and electric vehicle technology that meets the auto industry demands for highly trained technicians, especially in the emerging sector of hybrid and electric vehicle repair and maintenance,” shares Rose Sumajit, the Director of Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning for Honolulu Community College.
After successful completion in the Hybrid/EV series, the participant will receive a Certificate of Participation.
- Automotive Fundamentals
September 23 - October 24; M-F; 3:00pm-5:00pm
- Automotive Essentials Phase I
November 4 – November 21; M-F; 9:00am-1:00pm
- Automotive Essentials Phase II
November 25 – December 13; M-F; 9:00am-1:00pm
Participants will be able to gain valuable hands on technical experience working on a Nissan Leaf using specialized equipment needed for hybrid and electric vehicles. These courses were developed as part of the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College Career Training Grant, better known as C3T Hawai‘i.
C3T Hawai‘i is a $24.6 million grant awarded to the University of Hawai‘i Community Colleges through the U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration. The grant will fuel the development of education and training curriculum and student academic/career coaching, which targets certificate and degree programs specific to the needs of agriculture, energy and health industries. These industry-focused, employer-driven programs are designed to increase college completion rates and provide job opportunities to the C3T participants.
