HONOLULU - The November 2011 issue of Mālamalama magazine is in the mail this week to nearly 170,000 University of Hawai‘i alumni with articles that highlight UH activities in the Asia Pacific region.

Features include research on the World War II internment/POW camp in UH West O‘ahu’s back yard, archaeological studies in Korea and China and the experience of decades of Akihito scholars and Parvin fellows, as well as a look at two young alumni who draw on their families’ immigrant experience in building the successful video company behind UH Mānoa's award-winning TV commercials.

Also look for video of artists at work preparing art for the East-West Ceramics show on display now at Mānoa, the basketball team’s Asian tour and alumni profiles of a U.S. ambassador and a Thai artist honored by the king.

Video will become an increasing component of Mālamalama, which will no longer be printed after this issue. See the online version of the magazine at www.hawaii.edu/malamalama
