Amarjit Singh, professor of civil engineering at the University of Hawai`i at Mānoa, co-edited a new book entitled Modern Methods and Advances in Structural Engineering and Construction. Released in June 2011, the 1,325 page book published by Research Publishing Services – Singapore, captures the latest developments in structural engineering design, new materials and innovative construction.
 
The edited book address emerging trends and includes topics in the broad areas of air and water; architecture and architectural engineering; coastal engineering; construction; construction safety; cost control; disaster management; energy; facilities and asset management; geotechnical and foundation engineering; housing; infrastructure; law and dispute resolution; materials; policies for national development; procurement; productivity; project management; quality; risk analysis; structures and sustainability.
 
The book contains 205 articles written by 409 authors and co-authors from 38 different countries. The articles were accepted for publication and presentation at the 6th International Structural Engineering and Construction Conference held in Zurich in earlier this year.
 
In 2009, Professor Singh received the Regents’ Medal for Excellence in Teaching. He has been with the UH Mānoa College of Engineering since 1993.
