Grammy-nominated jazz pianist Bill Cunliffe opens 2011-2012 PAC season

The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Performing Arts Center presents the Bill Cunliffe Trio for one performance only on Friday, September 23 at 7:30 p.m.

“Jazz pianist, composer and Grammy award-winning arranger Bill Cunliffe is widely known for his swinging and lyrical pianism and his creativity and invention as a composer and arranger of jazz,” said Performing Arts Center Manager Lee Dombroski. “Mr. Cunliffe was the 1989 winner of the coveted Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Award and has been nominated for three Grammys and two Emmys as a composer and arranger. He is currently working on "On the Shoulders of Giants," a documentary about jazz and basketball in Harlem in the 1930s, produced by basketball great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.”

Tickets are reserved seating and priced at $25 General, $20 Discount and $10 UH Students/Children. Box Office hours are Tuesday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Due to construction on the UH Hilo campus, the Performing Arts Center’s weekday Box Office has been relocated to the back of the Theatre Building in Room 141.
