Reynolds Recycling has opened a full-service HI-5 Redemption Center on Leeward Community College's Pearl City campus. The redemption center is located on the Diamond Head side of campus in the gravel lot.

The partnership was developed by the college's Sustainability Committee in its continuing effort toward employing more earth-friendly practices and “greening” the campus.

The hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturday (closed 12-1:30 p.m. for lunch).  Acceptable materials include all HI-5 deposit beverage containers (cans and bottles), non-deposit glass bottles and jars, and scrap metals (aluminum, copper, brass, stainless).

“We are glad to be adding additional recycling convenience to this area, and hope to support the college community in further embracing recycling and sustainable living," says Terry G. Telfer, president of Reynolds Recycling. "Leeward Community College has been working hard to make sure recycling is playing an active role in campus life, and this new Reynolds Recycling location will make it that much easier for students, faculty, staff and residents in the area to recycle and get paid for it,”

The HI-5 Redemption Center is open to the campus community and the general public.
