Students from 17 O‘ahu high schools will select from 29 degree and student service programs for a memorable day of college exploration right in the heart of Honolulu. Hands-on activities will include the fabrication of a metal tool box with the Sheet Metal and Plastic program; a fashion show hosted by the Fashion Technology program; and the opportunity to learn lashing techniques from the Small Vessel and Repair program, to name a few.

"HS2HCC is our annual recruitment event geared toward exposing high school juniors and seniors to academic programs and services offered through our college. By bringing interested students to campus, our goal is to inspire, connect, and inform students about our programs and provide them the opportunity to experience what college life here would be like,” shares Grace Funai, assistant professor and counselor at Honolulu CC.

According to the June 2010 Georgetown University report, Help Wanted: Projecting Jobs and Education Requirements Through 2018, the authors project that by 2018 63 percent of all new jobs will require some form of postsecondary education – that includes trade and technical careers.
