As UH Mānoa Library Services plans for the future of Hamilton and Sinclair Libraries, it is essential that librarians understand the perceptions and expectations of Mānoa students and faculty so that they can provide the services that patrons need most.

To help gather information, a random sample of UH Mānoa students and faculty will be invited to participate in the LibQUAL Survey, a survey of library service quality, during April 2010.

By completing the survey the campus community will help the libraries:

  • Better understand how the university community rates library services,
  • Compare and benchmark our results with other libraries to determine best practices,
  • Determine where the libraries should concentrate service improvements.

The survey has been endorsed by the Associated Students of the University of Hawaiʻi (ASUH) and the UH Mānoa Graduate Student Organization (GSO).

"As president of the Associated Students of the University of Hawaiʻi, I highly encourage students to participate in this survey.  This is a wonderful opportunity for students to help improve library services to meet the needs of students. Express your ideas, concerns, and let your suggestions be heard!" said Mark K. Ing.

"As GSO president, I am encouraging all graduate students selected for this survey to respond in full.  Your participation will greatly assist our libraries in understanding what services and resources are important to students, how we use libraries, and what needs improvement.  The UH Mānoa libraries provide valuable services and resources to our academic community, so please let your voice be heard!" noted Jeffrey Rich.
