Leeward Community College presents the 2nd Annual Scholarship Fair on Wednesday, January 27, from 3 - 7 p.m. in the Library. Attendees will learn how to get help with paying for college and covering the costs of higher education.

The fair offers students and community members the opportunity to meet with representatives from scholarship funders and get answers to financial aid questions.

Presented by Leeward CC Financial Aid Office and Leeward’s GEAR-UP program, the scholarship fair includes representatives from the ALU Like, Inc-Hana Lima Scholarship Program, the Bill Murata Memorial Scholarship, Kamehameha Schools Financial Aid and Scholarship Services, the Liko A’e Native Hawaiian Scholarship Program, Ke Ali’i Pauahi Foundation Scholarships, the Prince Kuhio Hawaiian Civic Club, the Samoan Scholarship Fund, the Hawaii National Guard and Leeward CC Financial Aid Office.

“Many students don’t realize that they are eligible for scholarships and that scholarships and other kinds of financial aid can help cover costs beyond just tuition, like books and transportation,” states Leeward Financial Aid OfficerAileen Lum-Akana. “The fair gives them a chance to meet with the sources and ask individual questions.”

Information on all types of financial aid will also be available, along with help with completing the FAFSA, a required form for most financial aid.
