SBS Media Holdings Co., Ltd. and SBS Foundation of Seoul, Korea, have announced a gift of $200,000 to establish an expendable fund known as the Korean Law Faculty Fund at the UH Mānoa William S. Richardson School of Law.
The Law School is committed to hiring a distinguished tenure track faculty member whose primary duties will include teaching courses and doing research and scholarship in Korean Law. The goal is to add a permanent Korean Law scholar, although visiting professors may initially fulfill these duties.
"This wonderful, generous gift will allow the Law School to add a crucial component to our existing strength in Asian Law," said Dean Aviam Soifer. "With the addition of a Korean Law expert, we will be in a strong position to lead the United States in Asian legal studies as well as to promote understanding between our two nations."
