WHAT: Universal Values for a Democratic Society — Nisei Veterans Endowed Forum Series, "Leadership in a Changing World"

WHO: Benjamin J. Cayetano is the featured guest speaker. He is the fifth governor of the State of Hawaiʻi and the first Filipino-American to serve as a state governor in the United States. Beginning in 1994, he served two terms as governor, holding his post as the highest-ranking Filipino-American official in the country.

Also, state winners of the 2008 VALUES FOR LIFE Essay Contest will be announced and students will read their prize-winning essays addressing the topic of leadership in a changing world. Contest winners at the school level from public and private high schools will also be recognized.

WHEN: Thursday, May 8, 9 a.m. to noon

WHERE: Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaiʻi, 2454 South Beretania Street

COST: The forum is free and open to the public. Boxed lunch and beverage will be available for $8. Place lunch orders at time of RSVP. Parking is available for $4 with validation at the JCCH parking garage.
