WHAT: The Mānoa Experience, the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Preview Day, was hosted for prospective and admitted students and their families to get a peek at life and education on campus.

WHEN: Saturday, April 1, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHO: More than 2,000 people attended the event, along with hundreds of UH Mānoa students, faculty and staff supporting the event and exhibits.

WHERE: UH Mānoa, the flagship campus of UH’s 10-campus system.

WHY: Prospective students and their families engaged with UH Mānoa students, faculty and staff and learned about the large variety of academic programs and campus activities while experiencing the beautiful UH Mānoa campus.

ADDITIONAL FACTS:

  • More than 130 different departments and programs were on display along McCarthy Mall and Legacy Path, featuring hands-on activities, campus tours, prizes, student performances (including the UH Pep Band) and more.
  • Attendees purchased their UH gear at the UH Bookstore and participated in a photo booth—Rainbow Warrior style.
  • Current students led walking tours of the campus, including the Warrior Recreation Center, an engineering research lab, the archaeology lab, the insect museum, the digital studios and student housing.
  • UH Mānoa is consistently ranked among the top 2% globally by major higher education rankings services.
  • Nearly 40 UH Mānoa graduate programs have been recognized among the nation’s best, according to the U.S. News and World Report’s 2023 Best Graduate Schools rankings. This is the highest number of UH Mānoa grad programs on the list since at least 2013.
  • UH Mānoa is one of 146 institutions nationwide classified as Research 1 University, “Very high research activity”
    • Considered the top tier in the country, and is one of a handful of land-, sea-, space- and sun- (sustainability) grant institutions.
    • Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program places undergraduate students with research programs so they're able to engage in faculty-mentored research and creative work.
