Part 1 of the Band's Aloha Concert begins at 4:00 p.m. UH Symphonic Band - Gabriel Arnold, conductor UH Concert Band - Gwen Nakamura, conductor 6:00 p.m. reception for ticket holders. UH Contemporary Music Ensemble – “Folk Songs”

Folk Songs The UH Contemporary Music Ensemble, Thomas Osborne, director, presents a program of works inspired by folk songs and traditional instruments. Iranian-born composer Reza Vali is featured with two works on the program, both based on Persian folk songs, and guest artist Maya Hoover (mezzo-soprano) will join the ensemble on Luciano Berio's Folk Songs, a colorful collection of folk song settings around the world. Pau Hana Concert

Students of the Music Department's ethnic music and dance ensembles present their end of semester performances, including Korean dance, Okinawan music, Okinawan dance, Japanese gagaku and koto, Japanese dance, Chinese music, Javanese gamelan, Philippine dance, Tahitian dance, and Hawaiian hula and chant. The performance begins in Orvis Auditorium and after intermission moves to the Barbara Smith Amphitheater. Free admission.
