The composition program at the UH-Manoa Music Department presents two different concerts as part of its New Traditions conference.
Guest composers and performers from Korea will join local musicians in performing music ranging from the traditional to the brand-new. Guest artists include some of Korea’s most-recognized performers and composers: Ji-young Yi (gayageum), Sunok Kim (geomungo), Woongsik Kim (janggu), Chiwan Park (piri), Soo Yeon Lyuh (haegeum), June Hee Lim (composer), and Hyunjung Ahn (composer).
In addition to works by visiting composers, the concerts will feature performances of UH faculty composers coupled with selections from the traditional repertoire. UH music faculty I-Bei Lin (cello) and Jonathan Korth (piano) will also be featured.
Two different performances:
Saturday February 18, 7:30 p.m.
Sunday February 19, 4:00 p.m.
