The Anna Toy Ng Memorial MOP Scholarship is provided by a generous donation from MOP alumna Elizabeth Ng and was created in memory of her mother, Anna Toy Ng. The scholarship is presented to a MOP student who exhibits excellence in marine scholarship, ocean stewardship, and contributions to MOP.
Potential candidates for the scholarship must be current MOP students in good standing, and can be nominated by MOP staff, alumni, and current students. Each spring, the scholarship selection committee, comprised of the MOP Director, MOP Coordinators, and MOP alumni, makes its selection based on the criteria of motivation, enthusiasm, participation, personal investment in MOP, and ocean stewardship.
The recipient is awarded the scholarship and a nameplate on a perpetual plaque, which resides at the student’s home campus until the following year.
The first (1988) awardee was Ms. Miki Grimes of the Windward Community College and University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa programs.
