UTS Business School Winter Program

  • DURATION: Three-week intensive program in Sydney (July 7-25, 2014).
  • CREDITS: Students may earn 4 transfer credits. Please consult a Shidler advisor about applying credits towards your degree requirements.
  • ACADEMICS: Students taken an intensive Management Skills course, focusing on leadership and decision-making skills. The program includes company visits, guest speakers, excursions, and networking events.
  • HOUSING: Students stay at Urbannest Quay Street apartments, which is a 2-minute walk to the UTS Business School. Students are responsible for covering their own housing costs, as well as books, airfare & local transportation, and personal expenses.

CUHK International Summer School

  • DURATION: Six-week program in Hong Kong (July 2 - August 5, 2013).
  • CREDITS: Students may earn 6 or 9 transfer credits. Please consult an academic advisor about applying credits towards your degree requirements.
  • ACADEMICS: In addition to Chinese language, courses in business, engineering, environmental studies, humanities, and social sciences are offered. Many courses focus on the Asian of Chinese perspective. The program is truly international, with about 650 students from over 36 different countries!
  • HOUSING: On-campus housing is available; student dormitories are double- or triple-occcupancy with shared kitchen and living spaces. Students can dine in on-campus canteens.   • DURATION: Ten-week session in Hong Kong (June 9 - August 14, 2014).

  • ACADEMICS: This program is open to undergraduate students. Academic areas include: Arts, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Science, and Social Science.

Fudan International Summer Session

  • DURATION: Five-week session in Shanghai, China.

  • DURATION: Four-week session in Beijing, China (June 24 - July 19, 2013). Program includes company visits and guest lectures.

ESC Rennes School of Business Summer Management Programme

  • DURATION: Two-week session in Rennes, France. Program runs June 17-27, 2014.

  • ACADEMICS: This program is open Business students only (juniors, seniors, or graduate students).   • DURATION: Four-week program in Tübingen, Germany. Program runs during August.
  • CREDITS: Students may earn 3 transfer credits (5 ECTS). Please consult an academic advisor about applying these credits towards your degree requirements.
  • ACADEMICS: This program is open to undergraduate and graduate students in all majors. The academic focus of the program is on intensive German language and German culture. Students should have at least basic knowledge of German language before participating.
  • HOUSING: Students can reserve single rooms with shared living & kitchen facilities in the halls of residence.

WHU European Bachelor Summer Institute

  • DURATION: Two-week program in Vallendar, Germany. Program runs June 1-15, 2014.
  • CREDITS: Students may earn 4 transfer credits. English is the language of instruction. WHU's Summer 2014 course 'The Business, Political and Cultural Environment in Europe' has been approved by Shidler as equivalent to MGT-342 (3 credits).
  • ACADEMICS: This program is for undergraduate Business majors only. Please see Rikki Mitsunaga (BusAd B-101) for more information on this program. Students are in class Monday through Friday. English is the language of instruction
  • HOUSING: Students live in on-campus single rooms; the housing cost for two weeks is approx. $400. There are restaurants and supermarkets close to the dormitories, and dorms have shared kitchen facilities. Students are responsible for covering their own housing costs, as well as books, airfare & local transportation, and personal expenses.
  • MORE INFO: Students pay a WHU registration fee (approx. $500), which covers course materials, chartered airport shuttle on first & last day of program, welcome reception, lunches, and farewell dinner, excursions and company visits, local bus ticket. Participants must pay their own international airfare and breakfasts/dinners, and should allocate for personal spending/travel money for the weekends.

WHU MBA Summer Institute

  • DURATION: Participants choose one two-week session: Session I (May6-20, 2014) OR Session II (May 18-30, 2014).
  • CREDITS: Students may earn 3 transfer credits per session. English is the language of instruction. This course is approved by Shidler as an elective for MBA students and as a non-accounting elective for MAcc students.
  • ACADEMICS: This program is for graduate MBA students only. The focus is on The Changing Environment for International Business in Europe. Please see Rikki Mitsunaga (BusAd B-101) for more information on this program.
  • HOUSING: Students live in on-campus single rooms; the housing cost for two weeks is approx. $400. AIU Summer Program

  • DURATION: Six-week program in Akita, Japan (June 16 - July 25, 2014). This is an excellent program for students who have little to no prior Japanese language experience.
  • CREDITS: Students may earn 6 transfer credits. Please consult an academic advisor about applying these credits towards your degree requirements.
  • ACADEMICS: This is an intensive Japanese language program. Three different levels of elementary Japanese language are offered on the program (students take a placement test upon arrival).
  • HOUSING: Participants live in furnished on-campus dorms, double rooms, with a Japanese or international roommate. Students purchase a meal plan to take three meals per day in the on-campus Cafeteria. Students are responsible for covering their own housing costs, as well as books, airfare & local transportation, and personal expenses.

Chuo Summer Program

  • DURATION: Two-week program near Tokyo, Japan (June 30 - July 11, 2014).
  • CREDITS: This program is not for academic credit. Students receive a Certificate of Completion only.
  • ACADEMICS: Students learn about Japan and its people. Optional field trip to Hiroshima.
  • HOUSING: Housing is arranged by Chuo University; students stay at a hotel located near the Tama Campus. Students are responsible for covering their own housing costs, as well as books, airfare & local transportation, and personal expenses.

Hiroshima & Peace

  • DURATION: Two-week program at Hiroshima City University in Japan (July 30-Aug 8, 2014).
  • CREDITS: Participants register for PACE-489 and earn three UHM credits (not transfer credit).
  • ACADEMICS: Students learn about many aspects of war and peace. This program is open to students in all majors, and may be of particular interest to students in Peace Studies and social sciences. Watch Hiroshima & Peace videos on YouTube.

KIT Intensive Japanese for Science and Technology

  • DURATION: Six-week program in Kanazawa, Japan (June 9 - July 26, 2014).
  • CREDITS: Students may earn 12 transfer credit. Students should consult an academic advisor about applying these credits towards their degree requirements.
  • ACADEMICS: The program is comprised of a Cultural Course (4 credits) and Japanese Language (8 credits). Students will learn special terms that can be used in the field of science and technology, as well as conversational Japanese. Students also learn how to operate a computer in an Japanese language environment.

Ritsumeikan APU Summer Gateway Program

  • DURATION: Eight-week program in Beppu, Japan (June 2 - July 31, 2014).

  • DURATION: Two-week program in Kyoto, Japan (July 27 - Aug 9, 2014).

  • ACADEMICS: The APU College of Image Arts offers this program for students interested in learning about Manga, Anime, and Japanese Pop Culture. Students will also study basic Japanese language and other aspects of Japanese culture.

Tohoku Science Summer Program

  • DURATION: One week program (July 4-12, 2013).
  • CREDITS: Students may earn 1 transfer credit; this program is mainly for experience.
  • ACADEMICS: This program is designed for undergraduates majoring in science and engineering. In-class lectures are combined with academic activities such as group work sessions, presentations, and field trips to laboratory facilities.

Waseda University Summer Session

  • DURATION: Four-week program in Tokyo, Japan (June 23 - July 18, 2014).
  • CREDITS: Students may earn 4 or 5 transfer credits (2 per course, plus optional 1-credit Japanese language course). Students should consult an academic advisor about applying these credits towards their degree requirements.
  • ACADEMICS: Undergraduate-level courses taught in English are offered in business, culture, history, and politics of Japan and Asia Pacific. Optional Japanese language courses are offered.

  • DURATION: Students may participate in one or two sessions in Seoul, Korea. Session 1 is four weeks (June 24 - July 22, 2014); Session 2 is three weeks (Aug 4-22, 2014).
  • CREDITS: Participants may earn six transfer credits in Session 1, and/or five transfer credits for Session 2. Please consult an academic advisor about applying these credits towards your degree requirements.
  • ACADEMICS: Session 1 has an emphasis on Korean Society and Culture; Session 2 has a focus on learning Korean Language.

Chungnam National International Summer School

  • DURATION: Three week program in Daejeon, Korea (July 30 - August 17, 2014).

  • ACADEMICS: Students take Korean language classes in the morning, and participate in cultural activities and field trips in the afternoon.

  • DURATION: Three-week program in Incheon, Korea (July 28 - Aug 15, 2014). Incheon is on the west coast of Korea, about 30 km from Seoul.
  • CREDITS: Students may earn five transfer credits: Korean Culture Workshop (1 credit) and two Electives (2 credits each). Students should consult an academic advisor about applying these credits towards their degree requirements.
  • ACADEMICS: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Korean Language courses are offered. Classes include some local field trips. The program consists of about 500 students from all over the world.

  • DURATION: Six-week program in Seoul, Korea (July 1 - Aug 7, 2013).

  • ACADEMICS: Students choose one of three academic tracks: Marine Science, Archaeology, and Film Studies.

  • DURATION: Five week program, June 23 - July 25, 2014.

  • ACADEMICS: The academic focus is on Asian-related topics and issues. Courses are related to East Asian and Southeast Asian studies, Economics, and Languages. The program features a field trip outside of Singapore.

NSYSU International Summer School

  • DURATION: Three week session: July 3-28, 2014. Students attend NSYSU's seaside campus in Kaohsiung.
  • CREDITS: Students may receive 1-3 transfer credits. Please consult an academic advisor about applying these credits towards your degree requirements.
  • ACADEMICS: Courses taught in English are offered in Management, Social Science, and Marine Sports.
  • HOUSING: Dormitory housing (4 persons per room) is available. Students are responsible for covering their own housing costs, as well as books, airfare & local transportation, and personal expenses.

UEA International Summer School

  • DURATION: Four-week program (June 28 - July 25, 2014)
  • CREDITS: Students may earn 5 credits (one module). Please consult an academic advisor about applying these credits towards your degree requirements.
  • ACADEMICS: Students may choose one module; topics include biology, film & television, theater, creative writing, digital animation, medicine, global media & communications, human resources, psychology, business, and more.
  • HOUSING: On-campus accommodations are available; all residences are within a 10-minute walk to the center of campus. Students are responsible for covering their own housing costs, as well as books, airfare & local transportation, and personal expenses.

Tuition Types

UHM Tuition - After applying to MIX, you will be nominated to a partner university, and then need to complete the overseas institution's application process. You will register and pay tuition & fees through UHM Summer Sessions MIX will provide you with a CRN, and you will register in MyUH for the same number of credits that you will take when you are abroad. Your tuition at the overseas university will be waived, but you will be responsible for paying your own travel & living expenses (including housing). You can apply for summer loans through UHM Financial Aid Services, but please talk with a MIX staff member first.

Partner University Tuition - After applying to MIX, you will be approved to apply to the overseas summer program (formal nomination may not be required). You will pay tuition & fees directly to the overseas institution, and are also responsible for paying your own travel & living expenses (including housing). You do not register or pay tuition to UHM Summer Session. Students paying Partner University Tuition are not eligibile to receive a summer award from UHM Financial Aid Services.
