Overview:

Located in Tokyo, Hitotsubashi University is a national university with the enrollment of 6000 students, and is the only university in Japan to specialize exclusively in the humanities and social sciences. In fact, Hitotsubashi is considered one of the most prestigious universities and the best in economics and commerce related subjects in Japan, consistently ranking amongst the top universities in Japanese university rankings. Since its foundation, Hitotsubashi has been at the forefront of Japan’s innovation. It has been a powerhouse for generations of Japan’s globally active business leaders as well as a research hub producing cutting-edge research in the global academic network of the social sciences. The university has campuses in Kunitachi, Kodaira, and Kanda. Exchange students take most courses at the Kunitachi (main) campus.

In terms of location, Hitotsubashi can also be considered having the best of both worlds. It is close enough to Metro Tokyo districts, yet distant enough to study and live in a spacious, green campus environment.

Academic Details:

Hitotsubashi University offers over 100 courses taught in business, economics, social sciences, International affairs, Japanese affairs taught in English. Various levels of Japanese language classes (Advanced, Pre-advanced, intermediate, Beginning, Introductory levels) are also offered. All undergraduate courses (taught in Japanese and English) are open to both exchange, international, and Japanese students with appropriate language proficiency for academic integration.

  • Junior standing
  • 2.7 cumulative GPA
