How To Apply - Graduate

 

Follow these instructions if you have already been awarded an undergraduate degree (or will be awarded an undergraduate degree prior to going on exchange), and are (or will be) enrolled in a graduate degree program at your home university.

If you are in a combined BA/MA or integrated undergraduate/graduate degree program, and have not yet earned your bachelor's degree (or equivalent), please follow the application instructions for Undergraduate Students.

Please submit the following application materials. Incomplete applications will be placed on hold until all items have been received.

STEP 1 - Home University Sends Nomination Email

  • If you plan to attend UH Manoa as a Regular Exchange or Hoakipa student, you must first receive a nomination from your home university. Please inquire with your home university exchange office about nomination procudures. (Independent students do not need to be nominated and may go directly to Step 2, below.)

STEP 2 - Complete Online Form

STEP 3 - Email Application Documents

Emailing application documents beforehand will speed admission decision processing time but all graduate level applicants must provide hard copy, OFFICIAL documents (Step 4) to finalize the application process.

    • See Instructions
    • Hoakipa and Independent exchange students must pay the application fee. Exchange students who do not pay UHM tuition do not have to pay the application fee.
    • Confidential Financial Statement Form for International Applicants. (Note: not required for U.S. citizens.)
    • Copy of University Transcript(s) in English from all universities you have attended. A Certificate of Degree Completion is also required, if your undergraduate transcript does not indicate completion of your Bachelor's degree. Note: High School transcripts are NOT required.
    • Copy of your TOEFL or IELTS Score Report (TOEFL-ITP is not accepted)
    • Copy of your valid Passport identification page (Note: Passport should have at least 6 months of validity beyond proposed program end date.)
    • MBA / graduate Business students only: Copy of your Resume

    STEP 4 - Mail OFFICIAL documents to MIX

    Application Deadlines

    Fall Admission (August): Spring Admission (January):
    • Application Period: Dec 1 - Mar 1
    • **Priority Deadline**: Feb 1
    • Application Period: Jul 1 - Oct 1
    • **Priority Deadline**: Sep 1

    Applicants are encouraged to submit ALL supporting documents by the Priority Deadline. Applications that are incomplete or received after the Priority Deadline may be subject to processing delays.

    Applications will NOT be accepted after the application is closed.
