Education
- University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, B.S. in Chemistry;
- University of Wisconsin-Madison, M.A. in Russian and Ph.D. in Slavic Languages
Research Interests:
Functional-Notional categories in Russian, effective methods for learning large vocabularies in Russian, etymologies and borrowings in Russian, possessive constructions in Russian, textual coherency in Russian.
Students who are interested in majoring in Russian should contact Dr. Brown. Students who wish to take upper level language and literature courses in the Russian language should contact Dr. Brown for information on which courses are to be offered in any given semester. A number of intermediate and advanced Russian courses are offered via LLEA 399, RUS 399 and RUS 499.
Dr. Brown is the also the contact person for obtaining information on the Undergraduate Certificate in Russian Area Studies. He can also be consulted about the Russian Summer Abroad program in Vladivostok, Russia and about applying for scholarships and grants from the Wiswell Endowment for the Study of Russian Language, Literature and Area Studies.
