Wedensday, april 3: abre los ojos (open your eyes) dir. Alejandro Amenábar, 1997, 117 min.

The (vastly superior) inspiration for Cameron Crowe’s Vanilla Sky. A very handsome man finds the love of his life, but he suffers an accident and needs to have his face rebuilt by surgery after it is severely disfigured.

Thursday, april 4: los amantes del círculo polar (lovers of the arctic circle) dir. Julio Medem, 1999, 109 min.

Julio Medem’s poetic masterpiece. Otto and Ana are kids when they meet each other. A story of circular lives, with circular names, and a circular place (The Arctic Circle) where the day never ends in the midnight sun. There are things that never end, and love is one of them.
