EARLE ERNST LAB THEATRE
Translated and adapted by José Rivera
From Life is a Dream by Pedro Calderón de la Barca
Directed by MFA Directing Candidate Robert Sanchez
Described as a metaphysical comedy-drama, Sueño demands answers to eternal questions involving fate, revenge, dreams, reality, life, honor, God, and love. In this play, doom is foretold if a troubled prince takes the throne, resulting in his confinement. Lack of a suitable heir compels his release, and the ill-fated predictions manifest. The lines between dream and reality fracture when his brief freedom is played off as a dream. “Can you change your fate?”
Harsh language and adult situations; not recommended for children.
