About Ming-Shen Ku:
Ming-Shen Ku, the artistic director of “Ku & Dancers” has been deeply involved in Contact Improvisation since 1991. She has been collaborating with many dance companies, performing and presenting her work in Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, Austria, the U.S, as well as Taiwan. She founded her dance company “Ku & Dancers” in 1993 to present new works and promotes the concept of Dance Improvisation. Ms. Ku has been invited as a guest artist to perform and to teach in many universities and dance companies around the world. She has received Wu San Lien award, a lifetime achievement award, in 2009. Currently, Ming-Shen Ku is a full professor in the Dance School of Taipei National University of the Arts (TNUA).
In 1989, Ku’s work “Bamboo Grove” noted into Labanotation when she was invited to set the piece at the University of Hawaii, at Manoa. After that this piece has been reconstructed and performed at the University of Illinois, The University of Iowa, the Ohio State University, the Bunknell University and The National Institute of the Arts.
