In June 2013 nine graduate students and one faculty member from the Department of Theatre and Dance traveled to Trondheim, Norway to present papers for the Society of Dance History Scholars conference “Dance ACTions: Traditions and Transformations” taking place at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. These students include Pablo Jiminez, Elbereth Walker, Rohini Acharya, Michelle Johnson, David Heller, Megan Adams, Sami Akuna, Mareva Minerbi, and Kathryn Holt and faculty member Kara Miller. The students wrote grants and created fundraising activities to support this research endeavor. They raised $30,000 and received generous support from the Department of Theater and Dance, the Dean’s Office, College of Arts and Sciences Research Awards, Hu’lili Program, the Center for Japanese Studies, the Graduate Student Opportunities Council, the Student Fees Activities Board, and personal fundraising efforts from family and friends.
