Congratulations, Kumu Hula Victoria Holt Takamine!
PAʻI Foundation founder and executive director, Kumu Hula Victoria Holt Takamine, has been named the 2016 USA Doris Duke Fellow of Traditional Arts.
Takamine received her M.A. in Dance from the U.H.M. Department of Theatre and Dance. She has participated in numerous Kennedy Theater productions and taught Hula in the U.H.M. Music Department for 40 years.
The United States Artists (USA) Fellowship honors innovative,
accomplished artists at all stages of their careers for their fresh
perspectives, unique artistic vision, and impact on their field. Each
individual artist or collaborative will receive an unrestricted
$50,000 award to support their artistic practice and professional
development, opening up increased possibilities to further their
creative work. This year’s awardees were selected from over 500
nominated artists living in the United States and US Territories.
