Alumnus Invited Stateside to International Experimental Theatre Festival

UHM Theatre MFA Chong Wang has been invited stateside for The Public Theater’s Under the Radar Festival in New York City.

Director Chong Wang sitting on a setWang Chong, founder and artistic director of Beijing-based performance group Théâtre du Rêve Expérimental, is the leading force of Chinese experimental theatre. Wang’s works have been invited to festivals in 16 countries, including: Taipei Arts Festival, Festival/Tokyo, Tokyo Metropolitan Festival, Toga Asian Theater Directors Festival, Seoul Asian Theater Directors Festival, Singapore International Festival of Arts, Melbourne Asia-Pacific Triennial of Performing Arts, Adelaide OzAsia Festival, Rotterdam Festival de Keuze, and Oslo International Ibsen Festival. His productions include: The Warfare of Landmine 2.0, winning 2013 Festival/Tokyo Award; Lu Xun, noted by The Beijing News as The Best Chinese Production of Year 2016.  Wang graduated from UHM in 2007.  His five most recent activities (including personal exhibitions, group exhibitions, and concerts) are:

  • Lu Xun in 2016
  • The Warfare of Landmine 2.0 in 2013
  • Thunderstorm 2.0 in 2012
  • Ibsen in One Take in 2012

He has also received the Festival/Tokyo Award.
