Newspapers on O‘ahu and Statewide

Honolulu Star Advertiser — Hawai‘i’s largest circulation newspaper that in June 2010 combined the two largest daily newspapers in Hawai‘i. The earlier newspapers, the Honolulu Advertiser and the Honolulu Star Bulletin, must be accessed separately.

Honolulu Civil Beat— devoted to politics and local news. The first couple of articles are free, but a subscription is required for full access.

Pacific Business News — news site focusing on business in Hawai‘i.

Chronicling America (Library of Congress) – includes newspapers from Hawai‘i.

Honolulu Weekly (Archives) — now defunct weekly O‘ahu newspaper focused on arts, entertainment, and politics. Contains issues from 1991 – 2013.

Hawaii Star — independent online news service established in 1994.

The Pacific Islands Report — news affecting Pacific communities living in Hawai‘i. Use the “Archives” search to look for material from 1997 to present.
