Assistive Resources in the Libraries

For assistance with the services listed below, please contact library staff at the Circulation Counter, Business Office or Reference Desks. Headphones for use with PCs may be checked out from the Circulation Counter at both libraries.

Blind/Visual Impairments

  • PCs with Assistive Technologies in the Libraries
  • Assistance to restrooms
  • Assistance with doors
  • Closed caption and subtitled video recordings at Sinclair Library
  • Computers with headphones
  • Escort to ADA computers
  • Magnifier – Located in the Sci/Tech Department at Hamilton Library on the first floor of the Addition. Check at the Reference Desk.
  • ClearView 500 text enlarger – Located in the Sci/Tech Department at Hamilton Library on the first floor of the Addition. Check at the Reference Desk.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing

  • Computers with headphones.
  • Voice/Text Phone Lines at Hamilton (956-2534) and Sinclair (956-5417) Libraries
  • Sprint Relay Online (Sprint Relay Online is a free service offered to deaf and hard of hearing individuals that allows them to place relay calls over the Internet between locations in the United States.)

Mobility/Orthopedic Impairments

  • Assistance with doors
  • Elevators:

    Hamilton: Elevators to floors 1-5 in the Main Building are located near the Reference Desk. Elevators to floors 1-5 in the Addition are located next to the Sci/Tech Reference Desk. A bridge on the first and second floor of each building connects the Main Building with the Addition.

    Sinclair: Elevators to floors 1-3. To access the ground floor ask at the staffed desk for an escort in the staff elevator. To get to the 4th floor P-20 offices press the call button by the stairs on the third floor for assistance.

  • Main entrance to Hamilton Library is installed with automatic doors
  • Parking for persons with disabilities
  • Restrooms which are fully wheelchair accessible are located In Hamilton: On the First Floor of the Main Building On the First through Fourth Floors of the Addition In Sinclair: On the Ground, Second and Third Floors
  • Retrieval of items from stacks
