Preservation Week: Humidification and Flattening of Rolled Paper Material

Display case for preservation week exhibit showing the process of unrolling paper.

April 22, 2019-April 26, 2019
Location: Science & Technology Department

The Preservation Department celebrates Preservation Week 2019 with an exhibit focusing on a simple treatment: humidification and flattening of rolled paper material. This treatment is carried out for our library’s collections in response to requests for accessibility, stabilization, and/or digitization. This exhibit shares the on-going treatment process for a group of rolled posters from the unprocessed Abercrombie Papers.

The exhibit, created by Liane Naauo, Conservator, is featured in the Science & Technology display cases on the first floor of the Hamilton Library Addition, across from the Sci-Tech Reference Desk, until April 26.
