Librarian II or III - Instructional Design Librarian
Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
11 month, Full Time, Permanent, Tenure
To begin approximately July 2017, pending position clearance and/or availability of funding.
Seeking a creative, technically-grounded, and visionary Librarian with the skill set of an instructional designer and liaison librarian to multiple departments in the business, humanities, and social sciences areas. The individual in this newly focused position will plan, develop, and deliver on-line and in-person learning materials to support library instruction and research services in consultation and collaboration with other department members. Collaborate with colleagues to employ expertise in learning theory, pedagogy, and assessment to strengthen and enhance the library instruction program. The candidate will provide reference services, in-person and virtually; perform on department, library and/or campus committees; engage in professional and/or scholarly activities; and is expected to meet promotion and tenure requirements.
- Provide leadership in planning, development, delivery, evaluation and assessment of online learning materials in support of the Library’s instruction and workshop offerings.
- Teach face-to-face, blended, and online instruction sessions as required.
- Provide reference support in person, via telephone, and through virtual tools.
- Serve as the library liaison to the College of Education, providing collection development, instruction, and research support.
- Evaluate and implement new instructional technologies to promote active instruction and enhance learning spaces.
- Collaborate with instruction and systems librarians to increase the library’s online presence through the development of digital learning materials.
- Integrate information competence elements into library instruction materials.
Librarian II Minimum Qualifications
- ALA accredited MLS or equivalent.
- ALA accredited MLS or equivalent.
- Three years of appropriate professional experience at a college, university or research organization, or equivalent.
- Twenty-four credits of post-baccalaureate course work, preferably in instructional design or educational technology.

THE LIBRARY: The University of Hawai'i Library has a staff of 151 full time employees and a collection of 3.1 million volumes. The materials budget approaches $6 million. It is a member of ARL. It uses OCLC as bibliographic resources and the Ex Libris Voyager automated library system for all public online catalog and processing functions.

Did you know that Hamilton Library or Sinclair Library employ up to 300 students? Be cool and work for us! To apply for a job at either library, you'll need to check your eligibility at the UH Student Employment Office. On the next page, click on the "login HERE" in the top right corner. Then look for the "Students" area and login using your UH logon and password. Then click on "Am I eligible to work?" in the top left corner.
Once the employment office verifies your status as a student within the UH system, search SECE's website for library jobs. To find these - once you've logged in, enter Oahu as the island, UH Manoa as the other location, and then enter "Library" as the category.
