Why Support Pals

With the generous support of both institutional and individual donors like yourself, the William S. Richardson School of Law Pacific-Asian Legal Studies Program (PALS) has become a leader in the field. Leveraging your gifts, PALS has distinguished itself by fostering scholarly initiatives, funding endowments to retain/recruit Faculty and Visiting Scholars and to support them in their research, and providing scholarships to attract the promise of a dynamic group of students.

Its only with your support that we are empowered to conduct our valuable scholarship and scholarly exchanges and to prepare a new generation of lawyers for practice in the field.

Giving Opportunities

Your support is invaluable and can be made in many ways, including:

  1. Establish/Support An Endowment

Across Richardson and PALS, distributions from endowments are already transforming our work, by providing essential support to our Faculty, Visiting Scholars, and Students.

Depending on what inspires you, your endowment will provide funding to support a specific purpose you designate in perpetuity. The principal of your gift is invested and grows over time, while quarterly distributions provide a steady, reliable source of income for the purpose you choose. This ensures your gift will provide benefits year after year, generation after generation.

You can start an endowment that supports:

  1. Programs, or research initiatives

  2. Professorships, lectureships and chairs

  3. Scholarships and fellowships

  4. Unrestricted use

  1. Planned Giving

You can also bequest your gift to a designated purpose, with planned donations. Providing creative and flexible strategies, your planned gift can be crafted to your desires, in some instances providing you income or reducing your tax liability.

Your planned gift can be designated in support of:

  1. Programs, or research initiatives

  2. Professorships, lectureships and chairs

  3. Scholarships and fellowships

  4. Unrestricted use

  1. Annual Giving

Your annual gift may also be directed to your designated purpose.

It can be specified to support:

  1. Programs, or research initiatives

  2. Professorships, lectureships and chairs

  3. Scholarships and fellowships

  4. Unrestricted use

  1. One-Time Gift

If you provide a one-time gift, you can generally provide PALS invaluable financial assistance for unrestricted use.

  1. In-Kind Gifts

You can provide the program many types of in-kind gifts-contributions of services and/or goods.
