Interesting Facts:

  • This past summer, I went to Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama and Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center, Mississippi for Field Training, the AFROTC version of “boot camp.”  It was the most fun 4 weeks of my life that I never want to have again.
  • I am the Color Guard Cadet Advisor as well the Arnold Air Society Financial Manager.
  • I am the Alpha Flight Commander within the Cadet Wing.  My alter ego is Cadet Training Assistant (CTA) Centeno.  Two ways to describe me as quoted by a few of my cadets are: “Ma’am, you seem mean, but I don’t want to test it” and “Ma’am, you are like day and night.  You are super chill, but you are also very scary.” 
  • Other than that, you tell me.

  • I am a dichromat; meaning I can see some colors, but not others. I am red-green colorblind which is common for most colorblind males.

Why are you taking FPLP courses?: I'm taking Filipino so I can better communicate with all of my relatives in the Philippines. I also want to learn more about Filipino culture.  Plus, the obvious reason of meeting language requirement credits to graduate from UH.

Why are you taking FPLP courses?: I am taking Filipino because I want to learn more about my heritage and the Philippine language. I am continuing my education in Filipino because I want to expand my knowledge about the language and because I LOVE EVERYONE IN THE PROGRAM! ... and I guess it's also because it fulfills a Language requirement, but that really isn't my reason why I'm taking these courses.
Interesting Facts:

  • I met all of my roommates in Filipino, except for one because I knew her since elementary school.
  • I love to dance! What style?... EVERYTHING! Just teach it to me!
  • I like to be busy, balancing school, work, and extra curricular activities keeps me on top of things.
  • If I could time wasn't of the essence in college I'd be taking fun courses like dance, ceramics, photography and theater.

Why are you taking FPLP courses?: I was born in the Philippines and I arrived to the US when I was two years old, my mom’s side of the family spoke Tagalog and my dad’s side spoke Ilocano. Therefore, I am taking Filipino because I always could understand Tagalog and Ilocano but I was never able to communicate with my family members. University of Hawaii at Manoa Filipino courses saved me!
Interesting Facts:

  • Many Filipinos have a statue of the Santo Ninyo within their homes I am one of those Filipinos.
  • I eat balut everyday and fight chickens on weekends. That’s just how I roll homie. =)
