January 29, 2009 - Message from the President
Magandang araw PO sa inyong lahat!
It is my pleasure to welcome ALL of you to the Katipunan Club. One of the Club's primary objectives is the promotion and preservation of Filipino culture through language preservation in the classroom and through extra-curricular events held outside of the classroom.
These extra-curricular events include: Piknik, SongFest, DramaFest, Sine, and the Banquet among others.
On that note, the officers, faculty, and I would like to invite you to the very first extra-curricular Katipunan event - the Balik 2 Eskuwela Bash/General Meeting #1. The Bash is scheduled to take place from 5:30-8:30pm at Spalding Auditorium (155). At the Bash, you will be able to interact with other Katipuneros (students) taking Filipino and IP classes while enjoying some MASARAP na Filipino food. Various door prizes could possibly be given out! At the moment, the Officers and I are still discussing the possibility of holding a Karaoke/Magic Mic session. It is not required that you stay for the entire event, but it is encouraged.
On top of that, this will also be a GREAT time to know more about the club in terms of its history, current financial status, upcoming Fundraisers, and upcoming events.
More information can be found on our website: http://manoa.hawaii.edu/katipunan. Please feel free to browse the site, especially the MEDIA section that contains numerous pictures taken from our extra-curricular events. Our MEMBERS section highlights the Faculty and Officers.
Again, welcome to the Katipunan Club. The Officers, faculty, and I look forward to your participation in our various extra-curricular events, particularly the Balik 2 Eskuwela Bash/General Meeting #1. Through these events, it is our hope that you can connect with your Filipino culture while simultaneously discovering yourself as a person proud of their Filipino heritage. It is through the hard work and effort exerted by the Officers, Faculty, and of course, all of you, that truly make these events possible.
Mabuhay ang Katipunan!
Maraming Maraming Salamat PO!
Randy Cortez
Katipunan President
