Handa na ba kayo sa Sabado? I hope everyone is practicing hard for their mini-songfest performances this coming Saturday. While it does not compare to the Songfest, it still requires groups to practice their pronunciation of Filipino words and learn more about the Filipino culture. Last semester's performances were very creative and entertaining at the same time. My expectations are very high this year. I'm sure that everyone is looking forward to these performances, so BRING IT !
On that note, I just wanted to remind you all of our BUSY weekend that involves the following TWO events:
First, we have the annual Katipunan PIKNIK! Maraming maraming pagkain at mga laro!!! We encourage everyone to bring their friends and family so that they can also have fun and participate in the exciting program that your picnic coordinators, Ver and Riva, have prepared for you. The details:
ANO (WHAT): Katipunan Piknik
KAILAN (WHEN): Sabado, ika-4 ng Oktubre (Saturday, October 4)
ORAS (TIME): 9am-1:30pm
NASAAN (WHERE): Ala Moana Beach Park @ Site 29
The next day, we will be celebrating Filipino Children's Day! We invite you, your friends, kids, nieces and nephews and other family members to join us in the 15th Annual Children & Youth Day! You will be enchanted by stories of Philippine Folklore and Myth such as the Origin of the First Man and Woman (the Philippine version from the Visayas region) through oral storytelling and entertaining acting. The Katipunan Club will be involved in teaching a variety of arts & crafts such as Jeepney and sipa-making. Eclectic displays of Philippine culture through dance, such as Tinikling, will also be presented at this historical event. The details below:

KAILAN (WHEN): Linggo, ika-5 ng Oktubre (Sunday, October 5)
ORAS (TIME): 11am-3pm
NASAAN (WHERE): Hawaii State Capitol Lawn and Hawaii State Art Museum
*Parking in the nearby downtown area is free on Sundays. The parking area near the municipal building is also free. Check the Katipunan website for more information regarding various bus routes or places to park*
Additionally, I would also like to remind you all of our 2nd General Meeting next week. We will discuss past events and look forward to upcoming events. Additionally, you will be briefed on the current status of the club and could possibly be given the opportunity to be part of a professional organization in the community. Like the 1st General Meeting we have more FUN icebreakers in store for all of you! Here are the details:
