The 2026 Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Research Student Scholarship is now open to accept scholarship applications for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Application instructions:

1. Follow the link to the Study in Japan website: Research Student Scholarship.
2. Carefully read the Application Guidelines.
3. Download and complete the Application Forms for the Research Student Scholarship.
4. Number each document as instructed in the Application Guidelines.
5. Mail or hand-deliver your application packet no later than 3:00 pm on Friday, May 23, 2025 to the University of Hawaii’s Center for Japanese Studies, Moore Hall 216.
6. Notify the consulate at the email address below if you plan to mail in your application packet. Be sure to keep your postal tracking number.

Deadline for the application is on May 23, 2025 (Sunday). More information can be found on the Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu website.
