Mission

The mission of the Knowledge Well is to provide a sustainable digital archive that allows for searchable electronic resources disseminated through an online portal for all areas and forms of Hawaiian knowledge.

The Digital Repository

We selected OCLC’s CONTENTdm, a proprietary online digital collection management software, to house our digital Knowledge Well. OCLC hosts our CONTENTdm 6.0 server interface which handles storage, management, and delivery of our collections to users through a customized web interface.

 An Opportunity to Share Knowledge

Faculty: Access to knowledge for curriculum development, teaching, learning, and research

Academic Programs/School: Repository of core knowledge that directly benefits our students and faculty and stands as a repository of material to inform policy issues and support academic growth into new programs (e.g. PhD, certificates, specializations)

Community: Access to current research material, primary resource matter to inform white papers, policy briefs, historical data, political issues, news reporting and new knowledge

Public Exhibits: Support the production of themed public exhibits for general public and community outreach.

The HSHK Knowledge Well is a sustainable digital archive that allows searchable electronic resources to be disseminated through an online portal. for all areas and forms of Hawaiian knowledge, including its language, origins, history, arts, sciences, literature, religion, and education; its law and society; its political, medicinal, and cultural practices; as well as all other forms of knowledge.
