Dr. Kaʻahanui has been a life-long educator beginning his career in the 70’s as a music and Hawaian Studies teacher and principal with the Hawaiʻi DOE in the 80’s. In the 90’s, Kamuela moved to Seattle where he was a member of the graduate faculty of education at Antioch University. In 2007 Kamuela returned home to our islands where he became part of the MEdT faculty at the UH Mānoa College of Education. Kamuela’s robust background as a Native Hawaiian educator is a strength that he brings as our new Academic Advisor at Kawaihuelani, where in the spirit of Pauahi, he returns a gift of “Service with Aloha” to our Hawaiian Language majors, staff and faculty.
