Annoucement: HURRICANE OLIVIA (9/12/18)

Aloha Student Housing Residents,


We wanted to provide you with an update regarding preparations for the potential impacts of Tropical Storm Olivia (the latest forecast can be found at Currently Olivia is forecast to bring tropical storm force winds and rain to O‘ahu beginning this morning into the evening.


UH Mānoa is open today and classes will be held as scheduled.  If anything should change, we will send out an update. Please read the following updates and reminders carefully.


  • Unless it is necessary to go outside, it is highly recommended that residents stay indoors during the storm.  We ask that you continue to remain vigilant and aware of the current conditions.


  • University, federal, state, and county officials will monitor the storm as it progresses.  Should there be a need to relocate within the building to a safer place of refuge, hall staff will communicate this and provide direction.


  • Hale Aloha Café, Gateway Café, the Market at Noelani, and all community desks and the Student Housing Services office will remain open as regularly scheduled today.  We will update you if it becomes necessary to alter the hours of operation.


  • Residents are reminded to make sure they have a 3-day supply of food and water on hand.  


  • With the possibility of power outages, If you have medication that needs refrigeration, please go to the Gateway Café during meal hours with your student ID and room key, and a container/cooler.  A single gel pack will be issued for your use. You can swap out for another gel pack at the next meal time.

You may want to share these accounts with your parents or loved ones in order to allow them to track the effects of the storm on our campus.


Please make sure to review information provided in our previous emails.  We want to reiterate that we are continually monitoring the situation and working closely with UH, federal, state, and county officials, and will provide updates as they occur.

    Keep emergency numbers handy.  This includes the Department of Public Safety (808) 956-6911 or (808) 973-2899 and 911 emergency response.

     Keep Student Housing Services numbers handy.  Housing contact information (including hall/apartment RA on-call or community desk numbers) can be found here.

     Make a plan for contacting family in the event of an emergency and phone service is out.

     Store some basic emergency supplies: extra blanket, flashlight, batteries, medications, a first aid kit, 3-day supply of water and non-perishable food items.

     Do not go hiking or to the beach in the near future. Even after the storm has cleared, there is the potential for flash flooding as well as a Brown Water Advisory due to the heavy rains. Brown water can contain pollutants including overflow from sewage or cesspools.

  • Open Transfer Period (8/28/2018)

Are you interested in a hall or room transfer? The Fall 2018 open transfer period begins on Wednesday, August 29th and will continue through Wednesday, September 19, 2018.

Please note, you are no longer required to meet with your RD or ARD to initiate a transfer request during the open transfer period. Simply download the form, fill out completely, then submit to the Student Housing Office located at Frear Hall. NO FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED VIA EMAIL, UH FILE DROP OR FAX.  All transfer requests will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis and is based on space availability. 

All residents must fill out their own individual transfer request form. For residents wanting to transfer with another person oin a group, all completed forms must have identical requests and be submitted together. 

Should your transfer request be accommodated, you will receive a transfer confirmation to your UH email. A move date and time will be scheduled for you and your account will be adjusted accordingly. You will be responsible for paying any rent increases and meal plan charges, resulting from your transfer request. 



  • Roommate Information (8/7/2018)

Roommate information is now available via this link. You may access the information by using your UH username and password.

Please note that roommate information is subject to change as we are still in the process of assigning students for the Academic Year. If you do not see any roommate information, you may not have a roommate yet or your roommate(s) have not authorized us to release their information.

  • State Holiday (6/7/2018)

               The Student Housing office will be closed on Monday, June 11, 2018 in observance of Kamehameha Day.

  • Cable TV Service (6/23/2016)

As a result of student feedback and analysis of data usage, Student Housing is no longer providing cable television service to our residents. Our current focus is to upgrade the network connectivity within our residential community by increasing the available bandwidth to all residents.

While we are certain that this change will benefit the majority of our residents, we understand that some residents will be disappointed. Our ResNet support team may be able to assist you with alternative suggestions to watch your favorite programming. They may be contacted by calling 956-6800.
