Japanese Skill to Promote Nature Protection

Joseph Iseri (undergraduate) and Maiko Ikeda (graduate student) have been working on using Japanese language signage to improve conservation of endangered and protected species in Hawai’i, among other language-based projects.  They collaborated to create the student organization called “Pono” and are currently collaborating with NOAA.  Their work is featured on “Konnichi wa Hawai’i”, a ThinkTech Broadcast that is in Japanese (except for the English-language introduction, which is then repeated in Japanese, and it’s all Japanese from there).

Kudos to Maiko and Joseph for their hard work, and this well-deserved opportunity to share it broadly with the public!
